Just under 1800 registered base jumpers in the world, many are inactive and just over 200 have died in accidents, of these even though many now fly wingsuits only small percentage proximity fly like this. Probably less than 200 people in the world.

just a heads up for folks who would like to go jumping with a wingsuit…not so fast…you’re gonna need a minimum of at least 200+ parachute jumps under your belt…which is a good thing..so not just anybody can go and get a wingsuit…sure would love to try it…

This isn’t like parachuting, where you can have someone experienced on your back doing all the work for you. Doing this requires a lot of planning, training and devotion.
start skydive, jump normally, do some track, a bit of body flying to fell the air, start work a beginner wingsuit, move to more advanced wingsuit. start some way base jumps etc … very few have the capacity and the guts to go as far as this though. many have died in the past few years, statistics are pretty bad.

Challenge of the day: Find a video of a wing-suit flight that has no backward pointing camera shots, no from the ground footage, no shots with other flyers in frame and no musical overlay. Just straight ahead awesome video.
Somebody has to do this off the top of Mount everest. All the way to the bottom.
I can’t remember where, but one Russian I think did it from the top of one of the highest mountain. the big issue is that really high the thin air makes the flight particularly more difficult.
The flying is nuts. Going through that gorge is mind bending. I would hit the rocks for sure.

+SleightofHand stop inventing numbers, first it is way more as a standard, 100 skydive is baby skydive, it absolutely does not allow you to even take a simple wingsuit. there so many stage before and midst will never do what these two so in the video. this is a very special way of flying, these people clock thousands usually. and at the end of the day once you jumped a lot it is not the numbers that counts, it is what you can do safely, and experts are there to evaluate that.
i have always wondered how did these guys become experienced because its too risky for the new ones who want to do this sport and you cant be experienced without starting .-.

You need about a hundred or two of both sky dives and regular base jumps before you even try this. This is not for recreation.
Just a general comment for everyone. First of all you need 200 solo skydives before you should even attempt a beginner wing suit. These guys are not in beginner wing suits. You should have at least a hundred BASE jumps before you attempt at BASE wing suit jump. Even with all of that, Proximity flying there is almost no margin for error. You can’t even imagine how good these guys are. I wing suit fly and I will never be this good.

I’m inclined to agree with you. I don’t mind a bit of this sort of thing, but there is a stench of recklessness in flying this close to the ground.
Pushing boundaries is what makes us human, but pushing limits to extremes – and then some more, without an out, is ridiculous.
The fact they do it and its promoted by a big company like this is wrong.
It promotes unprofessional behaviour and I’m not for it if it isn’t necessary.
Some of the very best wingsuit flyers, the best athletes with the MOST experience and the most fantastic flights under their belt, ran out of luck and died. Like Graham Dickenson and Dean Potter. a couple others. If you fly into a cliff at 100 miles per hour, youre not gonna survive that!

I agree, tragedy hits people who have done nothing to put there life at risk and for which death was not predictable in any way. however, saying they are selfish is a bit of a shortcut. I have seen people who are definitely stupid attention seeking, in standard skydive (actually not really dangerous) more and more of those actually. but you would be surprised how many of those people genuine enjoy the flying feeling, not wanting at all being under the spotlights.
