That doesn’t even look remotely real. He would have to flare to land in the water. Same as a seaplane does. Can’t do that in a wingsuit, the slowest those guys can go is like 90mph – you hit the water at 90mph and you’ll break all your ribs and crush your lungs.

    Dumb as hell.

The last shot of him about to land in the lake is probably from an RC airplane, wingsuit flyers can’t slow down like that.

I agree that there is some obvious “product placement” in this video, but, maybe, they sponsored (i.e., paid the costs for) his “death defying” jump and are, like all “good” capitalists, hoping the resulting increased sales of the product will more than compensate for the cost of their sponsorship.

However, your claim that it is all faked seems to mainly rest on him not having his shoes on when he hits the water. However, I viewed his landing at 0.25x normal speed and at time 4:18 it looks to me like he *does* have his shoes on. I think it’s possible with a wing suit to make a safe, almost gliding landing on a water’s surface because of an interesting aerodynamic effect. As he nears the water, there is something referred to as the “ground effect” (although in this case it involves water) which occurs that then creates a cushion of air between his incoming body and the water’s surface. That cushion provides extra lift just before impact to dramatically decrease the descent rate of his body. Note that his legs hit the water first and then his upper body. Wing suits are designed to, literally, become inflated with temporarily trapped air during the wearer’s descent and I think that we’re seeing at time 4:19 is his upper body being momentary buoyed up in the water by the air trapped in the suit which then allows him to skim along for a while until hydrodynamic drag slows him to a stop, the trapped air leaves the wing suit, and he then fully sinks into the water.
