A fabulous September for free flying in the Ecrins massif with conditions worthy of a month of June!
Wednesday 16 September, paragliding weather announces perfect conditions: almost no wind an easterly trend with ceilings at more than 4000m!!! but thunderstorms are expected by late afternoon. The appointment is made we will take off from Puy Aillaud.
Barely in the air that already all the peaks light up with pretty cumulus, direction La Blanche then La Pointe Guyard, Le Pic Sans Nom with already 4100m of plaf then transition on the Bar des Écrins via Le Pic Coolidge, 4400m to the Barre and then the Pic Gaspard where awaits us an atomic thermal 🙂 that satellite us at 4690m! transition on The 3 Bishops to go to Briançon, it’s all black to the east, a big congestus is already well formed behind the Col de l’Izoard where we had planned to go… suddenly at Pic Ombière I decide to go back to Vallouise via the Cucumelle. 3h15 flight, a beautiful day for the season!
