FTX Pacific Northwest 3D anaglyph

After about one year of development, ORBX just released their stunning Pacific Northwest scenery package for FSX. In order to give an adequate impression of those beautiful landscapes, I completely disclaimed the use of any aircraft. So please relax and enjoy some of the exceptional views of this new paradise for bushflyers.

Some viewers of my latest clip were a little bit disappointed because I only rendered an anaglyph version of my skydiving clip, so this time I tried to meet everyone’s expectations 🙂

In order to see the stereoscopic effects of this clip you need a pair of red/cyan glasses.

To view the normal 2D HD version please go to http://www.vimeo.com/9859240

For the use in a stereoscopic player you might download the suitable 3D UpDown version at http://www.vimeo.com/10089020

  1. Nice one! These seem quite intense. What was the camera distance in those shots?

  2. Ok, I completely did not get that all this is virtual. Never heard of FSX before. Crazy stuff! I truly believed you mounted 2 cameras on your private airplane! You wish you could I reckon!!

  3. Andreas,
I haven’t spoken to you since I moved to the San Diego area. If you remember, I got my start doing FSX videos from you. Your most recent video if the smaller airport in Oregon if simply awesome but equally interesting are these 3D movies. I have to say that this is the very first time I have really enjoyed 3D in a flight simulator world! The mountains are stunning. The only thing that is peculiar is the feeling that I am looking at a miniature world – like a model train set made of plaster of paris. Do you know why it feels that way? What I mean is, it doesn’t feel like I am looking out of a world in an aircraft. Maybe the 3D is set to be somewhat exaggerated. Anyway, it is incredible! What does it feel like to fly in the pilot position in realtime and does the performance suffer then?
    Dave

  4. Andreas,
I just played this video on a 52″ HDTV – now it looks like a window on an airplane – maybe a little intense. Please email me some details of your process at whitav8@hotmail.com

  5. Thank you very much for your nice comments, Dave. To fly in fsx in 3D is a very special feeling. Of course there is a little loss in performance when using the 3D mode, but you can compensate it by reducing some settings a little bit. I would like to produce more 3D clips, but because of the limitations in using certain zooming transitions, which lead to some ‘ghosting effects’, I’ll prefer normal clips, until better solutions are available.
