He must have trained flying close to the ground starting at a safe amount and just kept dropping it lower and lower until you learn how close you can get to the ground without pushing the limit and touching. Much respect to the man willing to do this! Worth making an awesome GoPro video.

Indeed one would have had to go through a lot of training to master the body vs the wind to master body control from spinning out of countries.

He doesn’t really risk it that much if he does his math. The gravity is pulling him down by 1 meter every 1,5 meters in length. So everything below that line is theoretically impossible to be a threat.

Seems like their would be a harsh down draft so close to the ground or in between pockets of land mass. Helicopters & air planes get sucked down to the ground in such places. It’s where hot & cold drafts of air meet that these pockets are present.
