Few days ago on the official GoPro Youtube channel was posted a video about a recent Wingsuit Rodeo performed by Jeb Corliss. This video is really interesting not only because of the performance itslef but also because it was filmed using Go Pro Fusion that allows VR so it’s possible, while watching the video, to turn camera angles in different directions,up, down, to the left and right to have a 360° view of the performance and of the landscape all around.
The Wingsuit Rodeo is a variation of the normal Wingsuit performance and consists in a non-wingsuiter riding person that jumps on the back of a wingsuiter. At the beginning the non-wingsuiter leaves the plane together with the wingsuit athlete holding on his wingsuit rig and then hoist himself onto the wingsuoter’s back.

With the presence of the non-wingsuiter the aerodinamicity decreases significantly and at an altitude of 5000-7000ft the rider jumps off the wingsuiter’s back or deploy his parachute in order to make the wingsuit rider lightweight and to let him fly at a higher speed. For who doesn’t know Jeb Corliss, he is an american professional skydiver and BASE jumper. He is quite populare because he has jumped from many sites all around the world such as Paris’ Eiffel Tower, Seattle’s Space Needle, The Christ The Redeemer in Rio De Janeiro and the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The career of this Wingsuit athlete is full of amazing experiences but also of accidents, that in this kind of extreme sport occur often. For example in 2003 Corliss had to fly with his teammate and best friend Dwain Weston, an australian BASE jumper under the Royal Gorge Bridge but Dwain didn’t make it, he impacted the bridge at a speed of 190km/h and died instantly and Corliss had to take evasive action to avoid the body of Dwain. In 2009 Corliss was permanently banned from the Empire State Building because 3 years before he attempted to jump from the deck of the skyscraper but the NYPD arrested him for safety reasons not allowing him to do the performance. Jeb Corliss has his own Youtube channel “Jeb Corliss” where he posts his performances and speaks about himself and how he overcomes his fears.
